(WBRC) - Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin said federal help is on the way for people hurt by COVID-19 who need rental and utility assistance. Woodfin said the city was notified it will receive $6,272,092 from the federal government through the Emergency Rental Assistance program to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is another tool for the city to help our residents as they deal with the economic impact on their lives due to the pandemic,” Mayor Woodfin said. “I made this a priority for our team to secure these funds once they were made available by the U.S. Treasury Department.
