Floyd County Fairgrounds, Ag Center sustain major damage

Updated, 5:21 pm – The National Weather Service has assessed the damage the tornado caused to the Floyd County Fairgrounds and surrounding areas as a ‘high-end EF 1’ with max winds in the 100-110 miles per hour range.
Charles City, Iowa 4:20 pm – Two tornadoes touched down in Northeast Iowa earlier Monday afternoon with one causing damage in Floyd County, and the other in Lime Springs.
The first came shortly after 12:30pm near the Floyd County Fairgrounds.
Fairboard President Amy Staudt was there as the twister tore through the complex.
