Three new directors have been appointed to the inaugural AIA board.
The new directors will commence their terms in February 2021.
They bring experience from across government, private and industry sectors.
The Australian Government has welcomed the appointment of three new directors, including the chair, to the inaugural board of Agricultural Innovation Australia (AIA).
Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud said the board appointments is an exciting next step as the board ramps up to drive unprecedented collaboration and coordination of investment in agricultural innovation this year.

Disaster assistance following damaging tropical low
Disaster assistance has been made available to help communities recover from the damage caused by a tropical low that recently made its way down the Western Australia coast.
The Shires of Carnarvon, Upper Gascoyne and Derby-West Kimberley will be eligible to receive financial assistance through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Minister for Emergency Management David Littleproud said the system produced strong winds and resulted in significant rainfall.
“The Bureau of Meteorology reported that Carnarvon received more rain in 24 hours than it received for all of 2020, which has led to significant damage, in particular to the road network,” Minister Littleproud said.

CBH Group has signed a deal to ship 30,000 tonnes of malting barley to Heineken Mexico
Australian barley is heading to a significant new market this month after the nation’s biggest grains exporter, CBH Group, signed a deal to ship 30,000 tonnes of malting barley to Heineken Mexico.
Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said Mexico was a great market for Australian producers.
“We should all be doing a Mexican wave for the CBH Group and Australian grain growers today,” Minister Littleproud said.

Communities in Western Australia remain under threat from the Wooroloo bushfire, currently burning out of control in the Perth region.
Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud said weather conditions have been hampering firefighting efforts.
“The Australian Government has acted swiftly to support the Western Australian Government’s response,” Minister Littleproud said.
Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said arrangements are underway for the Australian Defence Force to transport fire retardant to WA.
“Emergency Management Australia, at the request of WA authorities, has asked Defence to deliver fire retardant via airlift from RAAF Richmond to Busselton Margaret River Airport.
