CISA Names Three Leadership Appointments GavrBY/Shutterstock.com email February 22, 2021 CISA announced a new deputy director, executive assistant director for cybersecurity and executive assistant director for infrastructure security. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency added to its leadership Monday, announcing three appointments each of whom have previous experience in the federal government. Nitin Natarajan, formerly a director at Avantus Federal in the Homeland Security and federal/civilian markets, will serve as CISA’s deputy director. In his new role, Natarajan will oversee CISA’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure divisions, as well as the National Risk Management Center and the Emergency Communications Division. CISA looks to future-proof first responder communications -- GCN

By GCN Staff Jan 26, 2021 With the growing amount of data, video, and information services (DV&IS) in the communications ecosystem, public safety agencies need priority access to advanced services to support national security and emergency response and recovery. To further that goal, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is seeking feedback on a potential new requirement for two programs it manages: the Next Generation Network Priority Service  (NGN PS ) and the Telecommunications Service Priority programs.  CISA’s NGN PS program was developed to move priority voice communications features from circuit-switched telephone networks to IP-based packet infrastructures and deploy new DV&IS capabilities to ensure responders have access to the capabilities they need.
