The Isle of Wight's St Mary's Hospital is to get a £23 million upgrade, which will see a new Emergency Care Floor created, a new mental health hub and wards reconfigured.
Work to improve a hospital s emergency department is set to begin in the New Year. After receiving £4 million winter funding earlier this year, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) is preparing to improve the capacity within West Cumberland Hospital s Accident and Emergency department. The work will develop same-day emergency care facilities offered on the Whitehaven hospital site, following the successful implementation of the Same Day Emergency Care model at both WCH and Cumberland Infirmary. The additional space will allow the trust to develop this work further, by improving capacity, reducing overcrowding, and improving the overall patient experience. Groundwork has already begun to prepare WCH for the arrival of a single-storey build next month, as work is expected to begin on January 4.
