The Laurence & Chico Café, located at 833 Bute Street, has quietly closed its doors. The bizarrely-wonderful eatery had been offering tea service in its
Alice in Wonderland-like dining room since opening in spring 2018. The West End destination was created and designed by dynamic design duo Laurence Li and Chico Wang.

The owner of The Narrow Group, David Duprey, told Dished Vancouver the space was sold to new owners and he wishes them all the best.
“For us, The Emerald was an amazing seven-and-a-half-year ride. We really enjoyed and want to thank everyone who came down for all the crazy parties, bands, and half-price cocktail night debauchery,” said Duprey.
“We had such a great time and hope you all did as well. We really saw the neighbourhood blossom into a truly cool hybrid of art and culture that I know, with all the new spots opening up Chinatown will only get cooler.”
