Some households can get monthly discounts on broadband service and money to purchase one device through a new local program.
Onward Eugene and city officials are holding a webinar at noon Thursday, June 10 to help community members learn more about the program, known as the Emergency Broadband Benefit. The webinar will be free and available in English and Spanish.
The Emergency Broadband Benefit program provides a discount of up to $50 per month and a one-time discount of up to $100 toward a computer-laptop or tablet to eligible households.
A household is eligible for the program if one member:
Has experienced a substantial loss of income through job loss or furlough since Feb. 29, 2020, and the household had a total income in 2020 at or below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers
