This is the hope of the provincial government, politicians, an economist and companies that do business with the ports authority, all of whom are pinning their hopes on the move to grow the stagnant economy and address bottlenecks at the port.

Transnet National Ports Authority is moving into a new head office in Port Elizabeth s Port of Ngqura.
The Eastern Cape government said they hope the move will motivate Transnet to deliver on its longstanding promise to expand the Port of East London.
The DA said it hoped the move meant more emphasis will be placed on the relocation of the health hazard Manganese Ore Facility from the PE harbour to Port of Ngqura.
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) is shutting down its Johannesburg and Durban offices and is set to move its employees to its impressive eMendi Building situated at the Port of Ngqura in Port Elizabeth.
