REVEALED: Irish Eurovision singer for 2021 announced

RTÉ has today announced who will represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam next May with a brand-new song.
Lesley Roy was due to represent Ireland in 2020 and she has been chosen to represent the country again in 2021.
This year’s Eurovision in The Netherlands may not have happened, but Eurovision organisers are determined to make up for it in 2021.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Eurovision was cancelled for the first time in its 65-year history, disappointing hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, meaning Irish-born New York resident Lesley didn’t get the chance to compete with her uplifting pop tune, Story of My Life.

IRELAND’S ENTRY IN next year’s Eurovision will be Lesley Roy, who was due to represent Ireland this year before the song competition was cancelled.
Roy was due to perform the ‘Story of My Life’ in The Netherlands this year but the song contest was cancelled for the first time in its 65-year history. Instead, a virtual ‘song celebration’ was hosted in May featuring Roy.

RTÉ has announced that singer Lesley Roy, who saw her Eurovision dream dashed earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will return to represent Ireland in the song contest in Rotterdam next May with a brand-new song.
The Irish-born, New York resident has spent the last three months in the studio working on a new Eurovision song, and it will be revealed in the New Year.
