Traditional rulers begin mass campaign against open defecation in Jigawa

Daily Post Nigeria Published Ringim Emirates council has directed all its village heads to embark on a mass sensitization campaign against open defecation in the area. Emir of Ringim, Dr. Sayyadi Abubakar Mahmud gave the directives during an advocacy visit on the emir at his place. This is coming after UNICEF selected additional three local Governments for Open Defecation Free Programme, including; Taura, Guri and Jahun local government areas in Jigawa State. Sayyad said the Emirate council had directed all District village and ward heads, especially in the affected local government, to embark on mobilisation of people for the success of the programme.

Enugu Commissioner fingered as crisis rocks Udi - Daily Post Nigeria

DAILY POST gathered that although an election had earlier been conducted last year, the Enugu State Commissioner for rural development, Prince Emeka Mamah has now upturned the exercise, and set up a caretaker committee in its place. The development has now created tension in the ancient town, with the members of the elected Udi Progressives Union, UPU, maintaining that they would not relinquish their mandate. Speaking on the brewing crisis, the UPU President, Dr. Chinedu Onyia told journalists that the action of the commissioner was in utter disregard to a subsisting court order.
