The wins by World Half Marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie and world 5,000m champion Hellen Obiri provided exciting headlines at the 40th Kenya Defence Forces cross country championship at Moi Airbase Eastleigh in Nairobi on Friday.
Kandie of Embakasi Garrison, who won the title last year and basking in a world record of 57.32, produced a sudden burst of speed to upstage Collins Koros of Kahawa Barracks and teammate Eric Kiptanui in a three-way battle at Moi Airbase cross country circuit.

Obiri of Laikipia Air Base made a return to the KDF Championships after missing last year s event through injury, her time of 33 minutes, 25.1 seconds good enough for first place.

World Half Marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie and Hellen Obiri were victorious at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Cross Country championships at the Moi Air Base on Friday 29 January 2021.
The Embakasi based Kandie won the men s title in a time of c29 minutes, 24.5 for victory, finishing ahead of Kahawa Garrison s Collins Koros who clocked 29:32.5 and Eric Kiptanui of Embakasi Garrison who claimed third place in 29:40.5.

President Kenyatta Inaugurates National Security Telecommunications Service
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday launched the National Security Telecommunications Service (NSTS), an integrated communications platform aimed at enhancing sharing of information between Kenya’s security agencies.
“This will enhance coordination of security activities and operations, allow real-time information exchange, and allow our security agencies to better deal with emerging threats in the realms of cybercrime,” President Kenyatta said during the launch of NSTS at Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi County.
With the new integrated system, the President said the military, police, intelligence and other security services will be able to communicate more effectively at both intra-agency and inter-agency levels.

President Uhuru Kenyatta today launched the National Security Telecommunications Service (NSTS), an integrated communications platform aimed at enhancing sharing of information between Kenya s security agencies.
Speaking on Thursday, December 17, during the launch of NSTS at Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi County, President Kenyatta stated that the new parastatal will enhance co-ordination of security activities and operations, allow real-time information exchange, and allow our security agencies to better deal with emerging threats in the realms of cybercrime.
He commended NSTS s Board of Directors led by its Chairman, Chief of Defence Forces, General Robert Kibochi, for setting up the platform in a record six months.
