Apr 7, 2021 Gordon Nethercut, devoted family man, professional leader, and community servant, passed on peacefully on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 at the age of 92 after several months of declining health. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Vernie, his three children Cynthia Nethercut (husband Joseph Altonji) of Madison, Connecticut; John Nethercut (wife Sonie) of Baltimore, Maryland; and William (Bill) Nethercut of Ossineke, Michigan; and three grandchildren–Matthew Altonji, Justin Nethercut, and Mary Altonji. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (and wife Jean) Nethercut, of St. Paul, Minnesota. Gordon was born June 28, 1928 in Sandusky, Ohio to Donald and Helen (Porch) Nethercut. He graduated from Elyria (Ohio) High School in 1946 and from Denison University in 1950 with a BA in Economics. Tony Curcillo, Woody Hayes First QB, Passes at 89 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Share Three-year lettermen played in the “snow bowl”, alongside Janowicz and in a win over Michigan COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tony Curcillo, who was the starting quarterback for Woody Hayes’ first Ohio State team, passed away this past Tuesday. Family representatives contacted the Ohio State Department of Athletics with the news. Curcillo, who was 89, lived in Murrieta, Calif. “Our father would be honored to be remembered for his love of Ohio State University,” son David Curcillo said, “and for the privilege he had of being the first quarterback for Woody Hayes. He was also very proud of the fact that he was probably the oldest, for a while, of all the Ohio State quarterbacks.”
