As populaces world over continue to grapple with the nightmare of economic and socio-political pressures, Tanzania is living the dream. Not long ago, the East African democracy celebrated an upgrade from low to middle income status.
Tanzania’s burgeoning economy is largely attributed to the leadership of fallen statesman, John Pombe Magufuli. The late president’s radical reformist platform, pragmatism and high ethical standards, especially in fighting graft, pumped new blood into the country’s system and effected its elevation to the current level of growth in record-breaking time.
For the achievements that resulted from his management style, Magufuli left a legacy of great respect and admiration from the people of Tanzania and beyond.

February 7, 2021 was a very dark day for India, more specifically, for the inhabitants of the Rishiganga valley. A Himalayan glacier broke off and crashed into a dam on the Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand state, causing an avalanche of water, mud, rock and ice that wiped out two hydropower dams, houses, bridges and roads in resultant flash floods.
To date, 37 hydroelectric dam workers are still reported trapped, 135 people are missing, and the death toll is at 70. The search for missing persons goes on. Many experts have blamed the incident on climate change.

With warm thoughts on one side and painful memories to forget on the other, today marks 44 years since virtuous clergyman and former Archbishop of Uganda, Janani Luwum, met his brutal death. Six years ago, 16th February was established as a national day to honour the fallen emissary of God.
The story of Janani Luwum is one of an ordinary man that had an extraordinary temperament; whose unwavering commitment to his faith and service to God set him apart and catapulted him to a position of great influence.
