Since this week marks Chinese New Year, we thought we would hail the best places for some tasty cuisine in our region. Sadly due to lockdown restrictions, readers will not be able to mark the occasion with a delightful meal. However, one can, of course, still sample the delights of Chinese cuisine from the comfort of one s home in the form of a takeaway or delivery- so all is not lost! We asked readers to nominate some of their favourites on our Facebook page. In no particular order, here are their suggestions. 1 WONG S TAKEAWAY, SENHOUSE STREET, MARYPORT The takeaway is very popular with residents and has recently reopened with a delivery and collection service.
PLANS have been lodged to convert a shop unit which has been disused for “too long” into a supermarket. TJ Morris Limited, the owner of Home Bargains, has submitted a proposal to redevelop the old Comet site at Derwent Retail Park in Workington. It is the second major development set to take place at the shopping precinct as Aldi is also in the process of refurbishing its site. Shopper Mike Webb said that it was exciting news for the area, as the unit has been out of use for too long. He said: “That would be great. It’s been closed for two-and-a-half years now.”
