A large rockslide at the base of Elowah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge has added to the inaccessibility of one of the most beautiful and secluded waterfalls in the area, which continues to recover from the 2017 Eagle Creek fire.
Steve Kruger, Trailkeepers of Oregon’s executive director, said Saturday that the area is closed to the public until further notice and there’s no access to Gorge 400 Trail to Elowah Falls and the Upper McCord Creek Falls Trail.

Hikers looking forward to exploring the Columbia River Gorge this spring may notice a few roadblocks in the way of some of the area’s most popular spots.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said that a closure of part of the Historic Columbia River Highway will remain in place indefinitely, as landslides continue to flood the scenic highway, blocking off access to recreation areas that otherwise remain open.
