Feb 2, 2021 Case Thompson, 16, of Bottineau had his wish come true on Saturday at Pure Powersports in Minot when he was surprised with a fish house and other gear. What a fantastic gift to a teenager who has been through a lot already in his young life. Make-A-Wish North Dakota representatives Christy Mehus, Fargo, and Dawn Roness, Minot, made the presentation to Case who was diagnosed with cancer last year. As Regional Editor Eloise Ogden reported Monday, Case, 16, was diagnosed with cancer last year and referred to Make-A-Wish North Dakota by his child life specialist at Sanford Bismarck. Case was next put in touch with his volunteer wish granters to start his journey toward his wish come true, according to Make-A-Wish North Dakota information. Case shared that some of his favorite things to do are to fish and to camp with friends and family, so he decided his wish was for a fish house.

Minot s Blessed Pets provides food for pets in need | News, Sports, Jobs

jschramm@minotdailynews.com Jill Schramm/MDN Emma Phillips shows off a supply of pet foods in the Blessed Pets pantry Jan. 22. A new food pantry in Minot is blessing the animals. Blessed Pets is the ministry of Toby and Emma Phillips, who started the pet food pantry after seeing the impact this past year’s economy was having on pet owners. The Phillips’, who have a dog and cat in their home, experienced a drastic change in income themselves, so they know firsthand the difficult situations people can find themselves in. They also have been familiar with pet food pantries because of Toby’s involvement with a food pantry that included a pet pantry in Fort Worth, Texas, where they lived before moving with the oil industry to Oklahoma and eventually Minot in 2018.

A replica of a landmark town square building in Maxbass is looking good, thanks to brothers Steve and Todd Farden, co-owners of Farden Construction, Inc. Steve Farden said the brothers had been waiting for about 16 years to buy the 115-year-old building that had once been used as a bank and later as a post office through the 1970s. The original building was in poor condition and had to be torn down but the Fardens arranged to build a new structure that looks just like the old one in the same spot.

Russell Edington, Minot, builds, repairs guitars | News, Sports, Jobs

jschramm@minotdailynews.com Jill Schramm/MDN Russell Edington holds a guitar he built in his Minot shop. His shop’s brand is Leigh Rose Guitars. Russell Edington admits to playing guitar, although not well enough to do it publicly. When it comes to building guitars, though, some have called him an artist. “I’ve been called an artist, but I don’t think I am,” Edington said. He adds, though, that it takes creativity. “There’s a few tricks to doing it,” he said. “You’ve got to be patient and you can’t be in a hurry. You can’t shortcut anything when making a high-end piece.”
