Cathy Brown said she wasn’t sure what the food truck outside the Garfield Community Library in eastern Travis County was serving, but a warm meal for her family of three and her two elderly parents was welcomed.
Olaya, a food truck serving Peruvian cuisine, parked outside the library for a few hours Monday afternoon and handed out free hot meals and Monster Energy drinks to community members in need.
The mobile eatery was one of dozens of food trucks across the city that handed out free food to residents and families in the wake of the stormy Texas freeze that left many without power or water in the past several days.

AUSTIN, Texas - The majority of the City of Austin had its boil water notice lifted, excluding areas southwest and northwest of the city, but Taylor Kamnetz is confused, because she doesn t have any water to boil. Frustrating is a good word, she said, describing her situation. I didn t think it was going to be this long. Our property manager said let us know tomorrow if you have water, it might be a main line break. No one’s said anything so we don t really know, she said.

Mary Kathryn Woods, at the blessed age of 75, was called home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her sons: Chancel Jr. and Lincoln Woods; her parents, Melvin and Ruth Thompson; sisters: Corrine Anderson, Evelyn Jean Love, Elizabeth McClellon and Zelma Brown; and brothers: Clyde Wesley Thompson, Robert J.
