New Haven s classical theatre company will present CRY HAVOC! via Zoom and Facebook Live on Thursday, May 6th at 7pm as the first installation of the theatre s free, online event series, Building a Brave New Theater: Holding Space and Giving Voice.
In his award-winning off-Broadway play, actor/veteran Stephan Wolfert uses Shakespeare to lead audiences on a theatrical journey. In the play, the audience meets Shakespeare s veterans. It examines both the cost of war and the cost of failing to reintegrate veterans back into their communities. Wolfert seamlessly weaves his personal story of service training, PTSD, addiction, and suicidal ideation, along with the stories of other military veterans and Shakespeare s text. Throughout the show, the suffering of veterans becomes ancient, and Shakespeare becomes modern. It is a personal tale of his revival of humanity. In honor of Women’s History Month, Westport Country Playhouse will host a virtual storytelling of original works written by female members of the community about women who changed history, on Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. Registration is necessary to access the broadcast on the Playhouse’s YouTube channel (WestportPlayhouse). The event will be the second presentation in the theater’s “New Works/New Voices” series; the first was in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in January.
“Phenomenal Women Inspire” will feature stories about the following five outstanding women, each representing different periods of history: Constance Baker Motley, born in New Haven in 1921 and the first African American woman to be named a federal court judge in 1966; Mary Freeman, born in Derby, CT, in 1815, and who, with her sister Eliza, developed, bought, and sold real estate in Bridgeport before women had the right to vote; Mary McLeod Bethun

STORRS, CT – Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) continues its 2020-21 virtual season with PERICLES, PRINCE OF TYRE by William Shakespeare; I was able to enjoy the performance online on Friday evening from the comfort of my home.
The production was directed by Raphael Massie, an Artistic Associate at the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which was founded in 1935 and typically draws a total attendance over 360,000 to southern Oregon for a season of repertory performances. Mr. Massie s directing credits include work at Elm Shakespeare in New Haven, CT; at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA; and at Southern Connecticut State University. He earned an MFA in Theatre Practice from the University of Exeter (UK), and both a BA/BS from South
