HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division has christened the Navy’s third America-class amphibious assault ship Bougainville (LHA 8). The ship was successfully launched into the Pascagoula River in early October after being translated from land to the company’s floating dry dock using translation railcars to support the ship one month prior. Bougainville is the second ship.
