A summer-long virtual auction is in the works for local districts.
The Elliot Lake Arts Club lost its studios just over two years ago when the roof of the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre collapsed and the building was then demolished.
To continue funding for classes and workshops, Club President Christine Roberts says they are starting a virtual auction of original works, from beading to weaving, sculpture to paintings and more.
Memberships are also available, adds Roberts.
She says winning bidders will receive COVID-compliant delivery of their items.

The Elliot Lake Arts Club and its members have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and are hoping to raise funds. Kathy Jones, a member of the Elliot Lake Arts Club, says the arts club started an online auction last week to raise money for the group. Since the pandemic began, the club has been unable to hold its usual craft sales during the year. As a result, they are low on funds. Jones says the online auction is expected to continue through the summer, depending on the number of items that are donated for the auction. Every Monday, a new item will be on the auction block and will remain there until that week’s auction closes on the Sunday. The item would be delivered to the successful auction bidder.
