Sisterly Love Collective, an allied group of Philadelphia's top women chefs, is hosting a panel discussion, cocktail party and pop-up shop on Aug. 15 to celebrate the launch of Dana Cowin's new magazine, Speaking Broadly. Cowin was the former editor in chief of Food & Wine. Tickets are available for $75, or $50 for hospitality workers.
The James Beard Foundation named Cristina Martinez, the owner of South Philly Barbacoa, as the best chef in the Mid-Atlantic region during its 2022 awards ceremony Monday in Chicago. Martinez, an advocate for undocumented immigrants, started the business as a food cart in 2014. It has become acclaimed for its Mexican lamb dishes.
