View Comments El Paso s Sun Metro will host four virtual town halls this month to gather community feedback about increasing bus fares, city officials announced Thursday.  A decrease in ridership brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has led the mass transit department to consider eliminating free transfers and increasing fares.  “We encourage the community to participate in these town halls because this is the first time in years that Sun Metro is looking at making changes to its fare structure,  Ellen Smyth, managing director of the city s Sun Metro Mass Transit and Environmental Services departments, said in a news release. This public engagement process will allow our customers to learn about the fare modifications we are considering while giving the public a platform to share their thoughts on the proposed changes.
