Danny (Dan) Leon Miller, 74, of Fairfield, IL passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. Dan was born on March 7, 1949, one of nine children born to LaVerne and Violet Miller. His family moved frequently, following jobs in the oil field business, an industry he himself would work in through his adult years. He married the love of his life, Nancy, on June 1, 1979, and together they made their home in Fairfield. Always ready with a smile, helping hand, and generous spirit, Dan taught his children the value of hard work and lived out his faith through his actions. He loved his family with his whole heart and spent his life showing it, not only as a husband and dad, but as a proud and doting grandpa as well. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nancy; children Melissa (Chase) Curd of Barnhill, IL and Mike (Sarah) Miller of Fairfield, IL; grandchildren Brielle, Clara, & Locke Curd and Gavin & Bradley Grubb; a brother Jack (Linda) Miller of Mediapolis, IA and a sister Patty (Charlie)
Wayne County Treasurer Donna Masterson says her office collected 74 percent of the more than $19 million dollar extension for property taxes by the first installment due date of October 29th. The second installment of property taxes is due November 29th. Certified delinquent letters will go out January 7th, and publication will be on January 20th. The tax sale will be held on February 9th. 39-year-old Fairfield resident Donnelle N. Harris was arrested by Fairfield police yesterday morning on a Wells County, Indiana, warrant for violation of a custody order. Harris was taken to the Wayne County Jail and held, pending the posting of $5,020 bond. FBI Springfield is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the subjects involved in the August 22nd murder of Keeshanna Jackson in Carbondale. Carbondale Police are also offering a $5,000 reward for information. Jackson was attending a party when Carbondale police responded to a report of shots
95-year-old William G. Bennett of Albion, died on May 6, at Linda E. White Hospice at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born July 17, 1925 to Ellis and Amy (Guyot) Bennett in Albion. On June 1, 1947 he married Velma Mundhank in Albion. William joined the Navy even before he graduated high school. His dad signed so he could serve in WWII, so for the next 4 years, 1943 to 1947 he served his country overseas and, in the battles, and then after the war. He returned home and met the love of his life and married her that same year. When the Korean Conflict began, he served our country again for a couple of years. His life was centered around serving God. He was a member of the Little Wabash United Methodist Church of rural West Salem, and then later Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Joshua 24:15 was his Motto, "… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." He was proud of his public service years, beginning with 3 years as Alderman, the
