Dalston dog steps in to save a lamb s life

Two-year-old Lola has spent all her life around lambs, on her family s smallholding in Dalston. But sadly this year after a ewe gave birth to twins, one lamb was struggling to survive - but up stepped Lola. She showed her mothering side, took the little lamb under her paw and helped save its life. Ellen McCrone, 21, who has the smallholding and also runs Pasturewood holidays on the site, said: “Lola is proud as punch, she has nursed a poorly lamb back to health with lots of licking and cuddles. “One of the ewes gave birth to twins and one of them was floppy. She didn’t really bother with him so we took action to warm him up and clean him.
