(Special to The Globe) WORTHINGTON Fundraising has been difficult for Sunset Hospice Cottage during the last several months as a result of COVID-19, making a recent donation from Worthington Elks 2287 very much appreciated. The Elks presented a $3,500 donation to the cottage, which will support the endowment fund and help ensure all who desire care at the cottage can receive it. “A member of the Elks board applied for this grant in the hopes of giving it to Hospice,” explained Dave Serrano, president of the Sunset Hospice Cottage board. “A lot of people on the Elks board are also involved with Hospice, and we’ve partnered with them on other things.”

Elks adopt Angel Tree Project children

VW independent/submitted information Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, has again adopted children this year from the Angel Tree Project to help make their Christmas a little brighter. Shown are wrapped presents waiting to be delivered to local children by the Elks Christmas Sharing Tree Committee.  Elks photo Tags are first placed on the lodge Christmas Sharing Tree, which contains items needed for the kids. Members of the lodge then take the tags from the tree, buy and wrap the items, and bring them back to the lodge. After items are brought to the lodge, members of the Christmas Sharing Tree Committee then deliver the packages to the location before Christmas.
