In her final weekly media briefing as Brant’s acting medical officer of health, Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke said Wednesday she believes local case numbers for COVID-19 are stabilizing.
“Last week, we saw our local case count and indicators dip slightly,” Urbantke said. “Having a reproductive number below one typically indicates the rate of infection is slowing.”

Despite the encouraging data, she urged residents to continue to follow public health measures, specifically maintaining contact only with household members.
