For Mays Multimedia, pandemic cut revenue, staff and, ultimately, office space
SPECIAL REPORT: REAL ESTATE
There is no cookie cutter answer to what the metro Detroit office market will look like post-pandemic. This special report spotlights several organizations and their office space decisions.
Elizabeth Mays, the third-generation owner of what is now Mays Multimedia in Detroit, had to grapple with a 75 percent reduction in the company s revenue as the COVID-19 pandemic raged.
For over 65 years, the business had been in Detroit and, for a brief spell, in Ferndale and Southfield, before returning to the city as a result of the pandemic, Mays said.

LANSING – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer s reelection campaign sent supporters a fundraising request this week that was printed in and mailed from Wisconsin.
Whitmer has urged Michiganders to support local and in-state businesses, particularly during the pandemic.
A campaign spokesman says it was all a mistake. The Whitmer for Governor campaign has always worked closely with union- and Michigan-based printers, and will continue to do so in the future, said campaign spokesman Christopher Mills. The vendor error has been corrected to ensure that the campaign can continue to support our relationship with local union printers.
The fundraising plea arrived at many Michigan households Tuesday with an envelope showing Whitmer at a construction site and the words: Fixing the Damn Road Ahead Together. Whitmer campaigned in 2018 on a pledge to fix the damn roads.
