Cheney has come under criticism from former President Trump
Trump endorsed Stefanik on Wednesday, saying that she is a “far superior choice” to the “warmongering” Cheney and one who will advance his populist “America First” agenda.
Stefanik’s rise to the powerful position would mark an apparent shift in the Republican Party from having less to do with promoting conservative values and more to do with loyalty to Trump.

However, Johnson is reportedly not the only Republican concerned that Stefanik is not the best representative for the party.
The conservative organization Club for Growth on Wednesday came out against Stefanik, saying she is not conservative enough.

“Indeed, Cheney is being accused of distracting from the fight against Biden when some Trump supporters have displayed more passion about taking her out than opposing Biden’s $6 trillion agenda. If Cheney’s enemies think we should be talking about Biden and not Trump, they’ve certainly picked a funny way to show it,” the editors wrote.

“I’ve always liked Liz Cheney, but she’s made a determination that the Republican Party can’t grow with President Trump. I’ve determined we can’t grow without him.”
Graham added that the GOP is making inroads with minorities due to Trump’s “economic populism” and “America First agenda.”
“If you don’t get that, you’re making the biggest mistake in the history of the Republican Party,” Graham said.
The comments come as the GOP grapples with Trump’s role in the party going forward.
Graham, a longtime ally of Trump, previously told Axios on HBO” that Trump could either make the GOP “bigger” and “stronger” or that he could “destroy it.”
Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Paduchik told The Hill in a statement that the resolution “addresses an unconstitutional, politically motivated process that served no purpose.”
“Republicans and Democratic members alike have the right to vote in any way they so choose. This committee also has a right to stand on principle and conviction,” Paduchik said.
