STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Finally, our house is done with COVID-19. For better or worse, my sense of taste and smell still are not back 100%.
Yes, that stinks on many levels. Writing about food for a living with tone-deaf tastebuds is both ironic and weird. It reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode, “Time Enough at Last,” where the actor Burgess Meredith plays a character who loves books. And when he’s finally able to consume them voraciously, so to speak, his glasses break and he becomes blinded as a result.
