On Tuesday, Elizabeth City Police announced 32-year-old Jeremy Wayne Maggard of Elizabeth City was arrested for Injury to Real Property and Reckless Driving. Around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 300 block of E. Colonial Ave. after getting a call about someone damaging city property. They arrived to find that the Black Lives Matter mural had been damaged with skid marks.

Pennsylvania man charged with murder after shooting at Elizabeth City Quality Inn leaves one woman dead (Source: Pixabay) and last updated 2021-06-26 22:05:35-04 ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - A man has been charged with murder after a woman dies following a shooting at a Quality Inn Saturday morning. Officials say around 10:33 a.m., Elizabeth City Police responded to the area of 522 South Hughes Boulevard at the Quality Inn. When police arrived on the scene they found 54-year-old Jacqueline Marie Castel, of Flinton, PA, lying in the bed unresponsive. Police say Castel was shot in the head and was taken to Sentara Albemarle Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died at the hospital.

When police arrived, they found 21-year-old Daquan Mercer laying in the grass unresponsive. They say he was shot multiple times and had already died from his injuries. On Monday, June 14, detectives, obtained warrants for 18-year-old Kiya Elizabeth White and 19-year-old Michael Lino, for murder.
