SWORDFISH: The Baystars U11 Swordfish fell, 3-1, to the Rush Blue on Saturday at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex. Meredith Salvadori scored to put the Swordfish up early but the Rush evened the score at 1-1 before the half. The Swordfish did not get any second-half goals, despite Layla Santellanes and Madalyn Gray working had to create opportunities, while the Rush scored twice more.
MARLINS: The Baystars U12 Marlins beat the CSL Storm, 3-1, on Saturday in Churchland Park. Lilyan Wright scored for the Marlins off a free kick just 30 seconds into the match and Eliza Leo scored with an assist from Ava Santellanes. The Storm also scored its lone goal in the first half to make it 2-1 at halftime. Halea Korte played goalie for the Marlins in the second half and walked away with a shutout. Leo scored her second goal of the day off a penalty kick late in the game.
