Caltrans is accepting public comment on the second segment of the high-speed rail system that will run from Apple Valley to Rancho Cucamonga, known as the Cajon Pass. The project will serve as the second segment of the rail system that will when completed connect Apple Valley to Las Vegas. Caltrans entered into a lease agreement with Brightline West on the initial segment in June 2020. The Cajon Pass segment will add 50 miles to the system, primarily along the existing Interstate 15 corridor right of way, ending with a station adjacent or connected to the Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink train stat

“Live From Joshua Tree,” a fundraiser benefitting the Mil-Tree Veteran Project, is currently seeking sponsors. The event will feature seven spoken word artists sharing desert stories and songs and will be available for live streaming on Sunday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Hosted by Mil-Tree Founder Cheryl Montelle, the performers include Kim Stringfellow, Ken Layne, Miri Hunter, Ted Quinn, Elise Kost, and Kate McCabe.
