Babergh and Mid Suffolk agree solar carports plan | East Anglian Daily Times

The schemes will help generate power for things such as EV charge points in those car parks, as well as the leisure centres themselves. If successful the pilot could be rolled out to other council-owned sites in the two districts. Councillor Elisabeth Malvisi, Conservative cabinet member for environment at Babergh s rainbow administration, said: The introduction of solar carport technology in Sudbury really demonstrates our forward-looking approach for our towns. We want to see them thrive, and lead the way when it comes to clean growth and tech – and this is one of the ways we’re doing just that. “Suffolk, and Babergh, are a natural fit for solar, receiving more sun hours on average than the rest of the UK. I hope this project will help to ensure Babergh continues to be a place people are proud to live and work.”
