MEMORY SCREENINGS VIRTUAL: The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is offering a free virtual memory screening as part of Older Americans Month. Appointments can be scheduled by calling AFA at 866-232-8484 or by visiting www.alzfdn.org.
Screenings are conducted through secure videoconference.
There are no minimum age or insurance prerequisites.
Results are not a diagnosis of any particular condition, but a memory screening can suggest if someone should see a physician for a full evaluation. Screenings are conducted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

VOLUNTEER ALL STARS AT EASTWOOD FIELD: AmeriCorps Seniors have teamed up with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ mascot Scrappy to use the Eastwood Field concourse to celebrate the Volunteer All Stars of the Foster Grandparents and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program on April 30. Volunteers will walk through the concourse to pick up AmeriCorps Seniors swag, game tickets and a boxed lunch. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and social distance.
More than 520 volunteers have given $1,180,698 worth of national service work in Family and Community Services Inc. across Ohio. These volunteers come together to help communities in need. AmeriCorps Seniors empowers Americans 55 and better to serve their communities.

LEADINGAGE REPORTS SENIORS’ IMPACT: LeadingAge Ohio released a report on the economic impact of LeadingAge Ohio members. In addition to economic findings, the report characterizes the present and future challenges Ohio will likely face as its senior population grows and provides estimates of present and future needs within the sector.
Findings include:
⢠While Ohio’s population is expected to remain roughly constant, Ohio’s senior population is expected to increase by 20.7 percent from 2019 to 2030;
⢠During that same time frame, Ohio’s senior dependency ratio, an indicator of demographic stress that measures the ratio of nonworking, dependent older adults to the working population, is expected to grow by 25 percent;
