Garcia took the lead before the bell and was able to hold off a challenge world 1500m champion Wightman in the final 100m to win 1:44.85 to 1:44.91. Italy's Yemaneberhan Crippa won the 10,000m in 27:46.13 beating out Norway's Zerei Kbrom Mezngi (27:46.94) and France's Yann Schrub (27:47.13)
