Proceeds from the event are donated to a charity, with Women s Refuge, Pink Packets, and the Migrants Centre benefiting. In the past, the event has been able to donate in excess of $1000 to a charity, Elim Christian Centre pastor Suzanne Hatch said. This year, proceeds will go to Supporting Families for child counselling.

It is rare for the founder of a school to attend a 40th anniversary celebration, but Richmond View School founder Ian Bilby expressed his delight on Thursday at being witness to the fruit of the seed he planted. “It’s a joy to be here today and see the ongoing development of a seed that was planted in my heart many years ago,” Bilby said. “Everything does begin with a seed. Someone said any fool can count how many seeds are in an apple, but only God knows how many apples there are in a seed.”

For many years, the people of Takyikrom, Adukrom, Koforikrom and its adjourning villages in the Akuapim South Municipal Assembly of the Eastern region have conducted teaching and learning activities for pupils in the area in one church building Elim Christian Centre.
This is because, these communities do not have any school building and therefore the only church in the place had to be turned into a school.
The school, which is up to primary five and with a students’ population of about 300 pupils is conducted in the same church building at the same time.
The pastor of the church, Mr Martin Acolatse, is also the head teacher of the school and he is supported by other church leaders to run the school on a voluntary services.
