He’s made sure the baseball season’s been a different story.
Roughly three months after suffering a torn meniscus that sidelined him for the rest of the winter, Barber is back as the senior leader of the Erskine baseball team. He plays first base and bats cleanup, and drove in the tying run and scored the winning run in Erskine’s 3-2 season-opening victory over Gardiner.

WINDHAM Riley Beem and Julia McKenna each scored four goals as Windham opened its girls’ lacrosse season with an 11-9 win over two-time reigning Class A state champion Falmouth on Monday.
The Eagles were in control most of the way and twice led by two goals in the first half, but the lead was cut to 7-6 when Falmouth’s Molly Scribner scored at the horn.

Dylan Swift hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points for the Capers (4-3)
Ben Eugley and Kyle McKone each scored 11 points for Westbrook (0-4).
BRUNSWICK 46, MT. ARARAT 38: The Dragons jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, stretching their lead up to as many as 17 points in the third quarter and rolling to a win over the Eagles.

CUMBERLAND Ella Kellogg scored 15 points, Molly Corbett added 13 and Cassidy Dumont 10 and Oxford Hills remained unbeaten on the season with a 58-35 win over Greely on Monday night.
After a slow start, Oxford Hills closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run for a 12-7 lead. The Vikings then rode a 9-0 run in the second period to a 27-16 halftime advantage as six different players scored.
Greely drew within 10 early in the third period, but consecutive 3-pointers from Corbett opened it up and Oxford Hills led by as much as 20 before taking a 45-28 lead to the fourth.
