After a pandemic year of makeshift observances, many communities are returning to in-person Memorial Day ceremonies. Elgin and Palatine are among many suburbs who are happy to be back holding traditional programs.

The Elgin Patriotic Memorial Association, in cooperation with the city of Elgin, invites the community to join in Memorial Day observances on Monday, May 31.
Symonds-Madison Funeral Home recently announced a "Memorial Day Scavenger Hunt" as part of the City of Elgin s Heritage Month activities. The Scavenger Hunt involves visiting Elgin s military monuments and answering trivia questions at each stop.
