Wednesday marked a new a beginning for Oregonians as the state removed all its health and safety restrictions that have been in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 for more than a year.
“Today, we celebrate Oregon’s strength, resilience, and collaboration,” Gov. Kate Brown said Wednesday at a reopening celebration. “We celebrate brighter days ahead. And, today we celebrate that Oregon is 100% open for business.”
On Wednesday morning, restrictions put in place by Brown in March 2020 fell away, and the state remained 16,094 people short of its original goal of 70% of adults 18 and older being vaccinated.
“This is truly a historic moment for our state,” Brown said. “However, while we enter a new chapter today, our work is far from over.”
