Victorian health authorities remain “alert but not alarmed” at the prospect of a new Covid-19 case after the discovery of viral fragments in wastewater sparked an order to more than 240 people to immediately retest. The urgent warning was followed by news that a seventh mass vaccination clinic will open in the Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne next week, the same day all Victorians over the age of 50 will be eligible for a Covid-19 jab. The 246 people from an extensive list of suburbs who were told to get retested on Thursday include recently returned interstate travellers from designated red or orange zone areas and four close contacts of the positive case who travelled from Perth to Melbourne on flight QF778 last week.

Binnion has no access to fresh air, but sheâs staying positive. She is trying to maintain a sense of optimism and fun by sharing anecdotes on a Facebook group she set up specifically for Melburnians doing hotel quarantine together, exercising and attempting culinary creations.
âEven though I donât have the most glamorous view â Iâm looking over a BP service station â I do get a lot of sunlight which is lucky,â she says.
