South Africa’s Covid-19 online vaccination registration portal is open – dos and don’ts

Clinicians can now self-register to get their Covid-19 inoculation, as government prepares for its historic vaccination rollout in the next coming weeks.
Launching the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) on Wednesday, Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize, said more than 34,000 frontline workers have already registered.

In line with the phased approach of the vaccine rollout plan, the Minister is calling on all health workers to self-register on the portal.
According to Mkhize, those who have so far registered include clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers from both the public and private sectors.

CAPE TOWN - Pregnant healthcare workers should seek medical advice before getting their coronavirus vaccines shots.
While there is no data showing that COVID-19 vaccines are harmful to expecting mothers or their unborn children, the government is being cautious.
Many pregnant healthcare workers have been working throughout the pandemic, running the risk of contracting COVID-19.
With ongoing research into coronavirus vaccines, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize is choosing to be cautious when it comes to expecting mothers in the profession being immunised.

CAPE TOWN - Government said it would reveal its COVID-19 vaccine rollout plans when the batches arrive in the country, adding that the Electronic Vaccine Data System portal was now live.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize held a virtual briefing on Wednesday to launch the system.
The platform is opened to all South Africans willing to get vaccinated.

Healthcare workers must register on electronic system to get COVID-19 vaccine
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday launched the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS).
The EVDS is designed to help streamline the distribution of jabs in phase one of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout where healthcare workers will be the first to be immunised.

The portal was launched to help healthcare workers or any South Africans eligible for the vaccine. In the first phase, around 1 million healthcare workers will be vaccinated.
Zweli Mkhize Officially Launches Electronic Vaccination Data System

Health Minister Dr Zwelki Mkhize has officially launched the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) Self- Registration Portal.
Mkhize has invited all health workers, clinical and non-clinical, from both the private and public sectors to join more than 340,000 of their colleagues who have already registered for inoculation on the system.
Mkhize says the system has been developed to ensure that the country lays a solid foundations for digital health information systems that inform the right national policies and interventions.
He says this is the beginning of a complete vaccination health information system from registration to certification.
