Proterra, the top manufacturer of electric transit buses in North America, is now on the verge of becoming a public entity by merging with the Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC), ArcLight Clean Transition Corp. (NASDAQ:ACTC).
As per the press statement released by Proterra on the 12th of January 2021, the merger with ArcLight Clean Transition is expected to close in the first half of 2021. The combined company is expected to have a pro forma equity value of $2.4 billion. Moreover, Proterra will have access to $648 million in cash, derived from exiting cash balance in trust and $415 million in PIPE investment from institutional investors.
Lightning eMotors Receives Order For 200 EVs From ABC Companies

Colorado-based Lightning eMotors (formerly Lightning Systems) has announced a major $45 million order for 200 electric vehicles from ABC Companies.
ABC Companies received in December its first T2145e all-electric motor coach from Lightning eMotors and now wants to deploy 200 additional EVs, ranging from Class 3 Transit passenger wagons to motorcoaches (touring coach and high-capacity double-deck coaches). The deal is for new vehicles manufactured by Lightning eMotors, as well as for Lightning eMotors powertrain systems, that will be installed by ABC Companies into customers’ previously operated vehicles.

Lightning eMotors (“Lightning eMotors” or the “Company”), a leading provider of commercial electric vehicles for fleets, today announced a $45 million order for its zero-emission powertrain systems from Faribault, Minnesota-based motorcoach supplier ABC Companies.
