Local politics was i had a little bit of a chip on my shoulder about my hometown. I wanted to see her you could combine the best of those worlds and have a community which was more prepared for the future, better educated, more economic development, and was also a place of great character, a place a city where everybody would love to live. Steve it was a fulltime job with parttime pay . Sec. Castro that is right. The charter that governed the mayor and council had been passed in 1951. It was a lot smaller city back then. The job that was definitely a fulltime job. Basicallyhe pay was 50 a meeting, so 50 a week, then one 3000 payment every year. 2015,ar after i left, in the voters actually passed an initiative so that the mayor could make 65,000 or something in that ballpark. You know, i like to think that my work in the work of others hopefully contributed to that. But when i was there it was basically 4000 or so. I have a public plan, and as one whose heart has eight for the past 10 years over the agony of vietnam, i hope to cease the bobbing the bombing of indochina on my inaugural day. A few months later, George Mcgovern would lose badly to Richard Nixon. It was to 2 30 in the morning when mcgovern delivered speech in miami. Why . Happened was that mcgovern was very strong on the issue of vietnam. Mcgovern as being one of the most influential men who ran for the presidency but was not successful. He spoke about the presidency in a way that no president has spoken about it before. He used Strong Language that had unsettled a lot of americans, and cause them to worry about how he would end the war. His search to end the war against established democrats there were some floor fights, there was an issue about how he was going to select his Vice President ial running mate. Again, just south of fowler avenue. You can see plenty of Highway Patrol out here, tow truck as well. The driver that was involved in this crash remained on scene. A lot of questions this morning, folks. Were trying to figure out if this driver or this person, if their car broke down along the interstate and they were walking to the next exit. Its still unknown how and what led up to all of this. I can tell you that the car that hit involved in this fatal crash had front end damage on the drivers side and the pedestrian is towards the middle of the interstate but what led up to it, what that person was doing along the interstate is still unknown. Florida Highway Patrol is out here right now, still piecing together what led up to it. I can tell you the medical examiner is here as well to remove the body so if all goes well, i would say in the last interstate should be back open again but unfortunate what happened out here early this morning and what led up to it is still unknown.
