voters want, it s not universal socialist health care or anything like that. it s defeated donald trump. they need to nominate somebody will be electable. elizabeth warren over the summer was sort of positioning herself as the person who could be that. who could be the electable progressive. maybe not as far to the left is bernie sanders, but maybe doing better, sharper on the trail than joe biden. but her stumbles on medicare for all have left some democratic voters a bit worried that she is not the person to get them across the finish line. julie: democratic voters, when asked who has the stamina and sharpness to be president, here s how they answered. elizabeth warren takes the lead here when it comes to stamina. 81% believe she s got it. buttigieg, biden, sanders, they trail at 66, 65, and 58%. elizabeth warren certainly has the stamina, she s spunky, she has the energy. people look at joe biden sometimes and wonder if he s got the stamina. they look at bernie sanders and wonder
moment tonight or does warren hug him to death? in politics, we always hear this as pollsters. well, i hate negatives. i hate when they go negative and attack each other. but you know what, chuck? attacks work. look at senator harris. she s in the game. she punched biden and her poll numbers went up, right? i know they say they hate it, but it s important. at some point if sanders thinks that warren really is in his lane, he s going to have to come at her. he is. warren has an opportunity here to sort of portray, and she s been very clever about this, portray bernie as the unelectable progressive. hey, i m a capitalist. i believe in capitalism. that s been her subtle way of saying i m the electable progressive. i think she s on the upswing and bernie is on the downswing sand she just needs to let that continue really. i think there s a lot of pressure on bernie. i think he s at some risk of falling out of the first tier
other democrats are raising money off of o rourke s new candidacy. i m delighted we have so many democrats who want to take on president trump. the more the merrier. do you have a comment on beto o rourke getting into the race, senator? anybody can run. and then, joe biden nearly slipped up and declared himself a candidate a bit early. i have been criticized by the new left. i have the most progressive record for anybody running for anybody that would run. biden, clearly arguing electability, as democrats decide whether the 2020 race is about ideological transformation, generational change or simply who can win? the most electable progressive. the progressive part is important. how important is the electability to you? it s huge. yesterday, i was in waterloo, iowa. good to be back there. and i grabbed a few moments with o rourke.
