Private schools want to know from DepEd when current school year ends

(JANSEN ROMERO / FILE PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) The Federation of Associations of Private Schools Administrators (FAPSA), on Friday, Feb. 19, said that the DepEd should issue a clarification if private schools can deviate from the school calendar prescribed by the education department for School Year (SY) 2020-2021. ”We do not know when we can graduate our students,” FAPSA President Eleazardo Kasilag said. DepEd, he explained, has not released the schedule up to this time. “We still do not know when we can end this school year,” he added. Traditionally, the month of March is considered the busiest month in all schools – with final exams, graduation rehearsals, and other related activities all taking place. However, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic halted all these with the implementation of distance or home-based learning.

Private schools assail Senate bill that will prohibit withholding students records for non-payment of fees

Published February 2, 2021, 9:19 AM Administrators of some private schools are furious. As if dealing with the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on their operations was not enough, a proposal that threatens their “peaceful innate policy” is now being pushed through Senate Bill No. 2010 or Anti-Withholding of Student Records Act by Senator Joel Villanueva. FAPSA President Eleazardo Kasilag (Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN) The Federation of Associations of Private School Administrators (FAPSA) on Tuesday slammed Villanueva’s proposed bill, comparing it to the “Chinese intrusion” in South China Sea. FAPSA President Eleazardo Kasilag said that Villanueva’s bill “fits a pattern of destabilizing the peaceful innate policy of the private schools much like the aggressive behavior” of the Chinese in the South China Sea. “It shook the entire private schools (sector) in the country,” he added.

Private school group laments state of education in PH

(JANSEN ROMERO / FILE PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) The Federation of Associations of Private School Administrators (FAPSA) said that the current state of the country’s education system is a result of “poor supervision of education committees in both houses in Congress” as well as the “dismal management” of the Department of Education (DepEd). “All of us are guilty,” said FAPSA President Eleazardo Kasilag. He noted that the status of the Philippine education system is also a result of “unmotivated classroom processing” of both public and private schools teachers and administrators. Kasilag pointed out various factors which led to the “death” of the Philippine education.
