Iowa City is looking for a new city attorney, after the current one announced her retirement after 25 years on the job.
During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, First Assistant City Attorney Sue Dulek was unanimously appointed interim City Attorney. She will take over on April 17
th, the day after Eleanor Dilkes’ retirement becomes official.
The Daily Iowan reports that councilors and City Manager Geoff Fruin thanked Dilkes for her service to the city, sharing memories and praising her ability to effectively guide the city council on legal and political issues and where the two intertwine. Several councilors want Dilkes to be involved in the hiring process, and requested that she give them a list of recommended questions to ask potential applicants.
