Convenience retailers are celebrating a successful Mother’s Day, with some retailers reporting up to a 40% increase in sales of cards, flowers, and wine.
Nisa retailer Amit Puntambekar, owner of Ash’s Store in Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire, says he tracked comments on social media and saw people were “avoiding the supermarkets because they were so busy”.
Nisa Local retailer Onkar Sandhu of Sandhu Stores in Tamworth, Staffordshire, said he ordered 30% more products for Mother’s Day than last year. “All flowers were gone by 12 on Saturday and cards by Saturday night,” he said. “Bonus, we cleared out some stock leftover from Christmas.”
