The lockdown in Telangana is expected to last till June 9. The government has extended the lockdown as part of its efforts to halt the spread of corona. On the other hand, people are suffering financially due to the lockdown. As a result, the KCR government has chosen to provide free rice to the underprivileged.
For the months of June and July, each person will get 20 kgs of free rice from the state government and the Ministry of Civil Supplies. In June, an extra 10 kg of rice will be added to the monthly supply, bringing the total to 2 lakh 53 thousand metric tonnes, up from 78 lakh metric tonnes in May.

As a result of the state s two-week lockdown, the Covid situation in Telangana has improved. The lockdown has brought down the number of cases in the state. As per the latest buzz, the state government is most likely going to extend the lockdown until June 7 or 10. According to reports, the health department has submitted a report to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seeking an extension of the lockdown by one more week.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will hold a review meeting on May 28 and will decide on the extension of the lockdown in the state. The chief minister on Monday announced a two-pronged strategy to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state. People of Telangana are facing a lot of difficulties while applying for travel e-passes on the TS Police website.
Some say that the website has been facing frequent technical issues right from the day of the lockdown. Several citizens planning journeys to other States, inter-district travel as well as those travelling from one place to another in the tri-commissionerates i.e, Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, and trying for an e-pass are facing this inconvenience.
As many people were not prepared for the lockdown and when it was declared several were trying to get the e-passes due to which the server is getting jammed, Telangana Police IT Cell senior official said.

The state is going through a crisis with no end in sight with respect to the number of COVID cases and deaths every day. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao conducted a review meeting with all the district collectors and superintendents of police (SPs) from the Warangal Collectorate on Friday.
KCR directed all the officials to enforce the lockdown strictly for 20 hours daily. He ordered them to take strict action against people who are breaking lockdown rules. He also directed them to impose restrictions on the crowding of people during the relaxation period of 6 am to 10 am.
