Dezeen Showroom: the Twig chair by furniture brand Elan Atelier recalls the texture of wood but is actually solid bronze cast from a single mould.
The Twig chair is a sculptural statement and a study in elegance and restraint, according to Elan Atelier, which specialises in bronze and cast the sculptural piece using the lost-wax method.

In addition to tree branches, the studio took inspiration from the work of sculptors Giuseppe Panone and Alberto Giacometti to design the piece.
Twig comes with an umber brown leather cushion as standard, and either a warm brown Antique Bronze or blacker Dark Bronze finish. Two premium finishes, Silver Bronze or Gold Bronze, are also available.
The Sancho stool, like all of Elan Atelier s bronze pieces, is cast using the lost-wax method.

The brand took inspiration from designers Marc Newson and Zaha Hadid in coming up with the sculptural form, which bends over itself to create a stable seat.
The piece is polished to a gleaming gold on its underside and contrasted with a darker, more matt finish on top. The exterior finish options are a warm brown Antique Bronze or a blacker Dark Bronze.
