There are more than a dozen active fires burning across the state. They stretch from way up in humboldt county to the fire that is raging now out of control just north of San Bernardino. That fire is the Fastest Growing fire all over the state. Its burned at least 18,000 acres since yesterday, and 82,000 people have been forced to evacuate across a wide stretch of mountain communities and the high desert. Were going to get an update on the tough weather conditions firefighters are dealing with with Steve Paulson in just a moment, but first we want to check in with Cristina Rendon in our newsroom. When you think of it, overnight it went from maybe 26 square miles to now 46 square miles. Thats about the size of San Francisco. This blue cut fire in San Bernardino fire is the Fastest Growing fire in the state. If you take a look at these images now, you can see that the fire is burning in several directions. It is also creating its own weather patterns with displays of twisting columns of flames. At least a dozen structures have been lost,
Routes on highway 138 and interstate 15. The blue cut fire has spread across 15,000 acres since it broke up this morning. Its burning at a rate in excess of 1000 acres an hour. Right now Officials Say it is 0 contained. 34,000 homes are threatened. 82,000 people are under mandatory evacuation order. The flames are reaching up to 100 feet in the air and this fire is growing bigger by the hour.
